On the weekend of the March 3rd, we decided to enjoy a nice quite weekend on the mountains. The weekend was anything but quiet because we got a nice lodge up on Smoky mountain. It is a cabin fully furnished with 5 bedrooms, a living area and a fully equiped kitchen. The balcony also had a nice swing overlooking smoky mountain. It really is a nice place to relax and unwind over the weekend.
Check out the spectacular mountain view from where the cabin stood!
The journey up to the lodge was less than smooth because it is a windy road up. We ended up arriving later than expected. Nevertheless, we still made our way down to check out Fontana lake and the dam which is half and hour east of where we were putting up. At the dam, we watched the sun set and the sky turning dark bringing to life the stars. That night was also when the lunar esclipse happened and it was a beautiful sight. The main idea of this trip to the smokies was to relax. The best way to do that is to have a nice slow barbeque dinner by the balcony. We headed back soon after the night turned dark and everybody was getting hungry then.
The fun started once we got back to the lodge and started cooking. It is a soothing feeling to grill the food in the cold as the heat from the stove keeps you warm. Having a nice chat with friends will enjoying the food made it that much more meaningful. There is also a nice fireplace within the lodge that added to the nice warm ambience in the living room. The night passed quickly as everybody filled up their stomach and got comfortable lazing in and around the lodge. Some were out in the balcony enjoying the stary night while others had great fun playing games inside the lodge. It was a feeling of serenity and calmness that everybody wish it would last forever.

Most of us got some sleep because the heavy dinner made everybody sleepy and the slow music put most people to sleep. We were up early the next morning to catch the sunrise. But the sky was cloudy and we couldn't see the sunrise clearly. Soon after, we got into action to prepare breakfast and get ready for the activities lined up for the day. Breakfast was made from the food left over from the dinner and I had a hand in making the omelette from the chicken drumstick left from the BBQ. It was a hearty breakfast with pancakes for everyone, omellete and scrambled egg with bread. There was also a fruit platter and we made sure everyone had their stomach filled for the day.
