The day we went downtown was new year's eve. The whole city was geared for the celebration culminating with the countdown at the peach drop event at the underground shopping area. There will be a concert to keep everybody going till midnight and fireworks would be fired on new year's day. The preparation started way earlier in the day with police setting up the security around the perimeter and ensuring the safe proceeding of the event. Some people were selling celebration stuff along the road like party hats, conffetti and spectacles in the shape of the words 2007. It is really bustling and the new year atmosphere was really thick.
